Darlene - On Sat. Nov. 4, 2006 Darlene was inspiring with her stories and quotes placing 3rd in a very competitive Table Topics contest. This was a newsworthy event - she was featured in the Lethbridge Herald!

Igniters Shine at the Fall District Conference

Nandini was honoured as District 42 Toastaster of the Year(left). She loves sharing it with one of her supportive friends Judy, Division Governor of the Year. They celebrated together with their friends. We are all so proud of you Nandini!

Darlene and Sue Rise to the Top!

On October 21st representing Igniters, Darlene spoke with passion and humour in the Table Topics contest. In fact her witty and engaging answer brought about sweet results! Darlene won the Division J Table Topics contest! The question was "what does healthy eating mean to you?" and she shared her love for chocolate.

Sue is simply an amazing Toastmaster! Doug Kalin past Div. Congratulations Emily and Nandini



At the October 21st Division J speech contest, Judy Mooney past Division J Governor spoke highly of the 2005-2006 "Of the Year" Award winners. Two of them went to Igniters club members! Emily was awarded the Division J "Rookie of the Year". Nandini received the Division J "Toastmaster of the Year". We are so proud of you both. Congratulations.

Table Topics and Humorous Speech Contests

The Table Topics and Humorous Speech contest was held at our latest home, West Hillhurst Community on Sept 26 /06.
Nandini won by best answering the TT question: "Do You Think the World Should Have a Universal Language". Darlene Davies placed second. Sue speech, 'A Novel Idea' edged out Marvin, 'Happy Birthday' ditty to claim 1st in Humorous. The winners move on to Area 41 on Oct 10th at 3608-33St N.W. [Alberta Research Council]

Welcome New Members

It is a pleasure to welcome our newest members Rona and Kathy. Marvin is delighted to have 20 members for his year as President, July 1, 2005 - June 30 2006. New members bring fresh ideas and creative skills to add to the vitality of our Club.

MOM is the Word


Congratulations to Nandini [Representing Igniters TM] for winning the coveted District 42 Evaluation Speech contest in Saskatoon on May 5-7 /06.

Nan beat out 8 other Divisional winners from Alberta and Saskatchewan. She evaluated a test speaker [Heidi L] who spoke about moms and Mother's Day. Nan used the acronym, MOM in her speech.
Nandini also placed third in the International Speech contest. [Representing CATS -Div G]
Darlene was very close in the running as International Speech contestant[Div J] and President of the Year for the District as well.

Nan said that she likes the trophies, Ok, however, she only competes because of the calligraphy on the certificates.

Creme de la Creme

Darlene is flanked by Div J Governor Judy and Past J Gov. Laura, after receiving the President of the Year [04-05] award.

Congratulations to Darlene D [International Speech] and Nandini [Evaluation] who won their respective contests at the Div J Spring finale on Apr 25/06.

Each will go on to the District 42 Convention to be held May 5-7 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
Darlene's mother's birthday will be remembered on May 6 , the day of the competition.



Darlene also won President of the Year for last year [2004-2005] She was wearing a 'Real Smile' all night ,after the contest.

Nandini [representing CATS from Div G] will go head to head with Darlene in the International Speech contest.

Pam Treats Us Like Millions


Pam, [front and centre] owner of Lifequest, attended the final Igniters meeting at this locale. Pam is holding the coveted Rammie award, which she won for best table topic speaker.

Emily Achieves CTM Award


Congratulations to Emily, who has achieved her Competent Toastmaster award on Apr 18th. She gave a compelling number 10 speech, entitled, 'Think Love'.
Emily, in her rookie season, has enthralled us with interesting and thought provoking presentations, almost weekly.
Way to go, Emily, you're an inspiration to all Igniters.

Nandini [Evaluation] and Darlene [International] won their respective speech competitions at the Area J41 Spring Speech contest. Our seasoned orators from Igniters, performed brilliantly at the University of Calgary, and were well supported by their fellow club members.

Anthony Chim Invited to Present at Regional

Our own Anthony has been invited to be an educational presenter at both the Toastmasters Region IV Conference in Minneapolis, Minn on Effective Evaluations and at the District 42 Convention in Saskatoon on Membership Building. We have seen Anthony's excellent workshops on many topics and know the Region IV and District 42 attendees will be getting lots of good information. Congratulations, Anthony!
